The Four Lads’ smooth, easy harmony style brought them several hits in the 1950s and '60s, “Mocking Bird,” “No, Not Much,” and “Standing on the Corner” among them, and they backed Johnnie Ray on his signature “Cry.” This four-disc, 97-track box set collects seven of the group’s LPs from their long stay at Columbia Records, including 1954’s Stage Show, 1956’s On the Sunny Side, 1958’s Breezin’ Along, 1959’s Swing Along, 1960’s Love Affair and Everything Goes, as well as a singles compilation that Columbia issued. It all adds up to a nice introduction to the commercial and creative peak of this impressive vocal group.
